OUR COMMITMENT

With every project we undertake, no matter the scale, we place a core focus on protecting people and the environment, promoting local economic development, and partnering with communities and society.

  • Sustainability

SUSTAINABILITY

We regard sustainability as our responsibility to enhance the positive effects of our projects and to avoid or mitigate the negative ones. We believe that we are not just delivering a physical asset to our customers and communities, but also an enabling environment that will benefit them in the long term.

Sustainability is a core Kheberat value, and we are committed to delivering sustainable outcomes on every project, everywhere we operate. This enduring value has enabled us to contribute to a century of global development—and it will carry us into the next 100 years.

Areas of focus

Protecting people and the environment. We use our proven processes, innovation, and expertise in engineering, procurement, and construction to develop, design, and execute projects with the greatest care for the natural environment as well as for the people who can be affected by our projects.
Promoting economic development. In addition to our substantial spending through local purchasing and hiring, we build and enhance the capacity of local workers and companies, stimulating long-term economic development beyond the projects we deliver.
Partnering with communities and society. Kheberat is committed to supporting the communities that host our projects and offices, and to using inclusive, participatory approaches by which we respect local cultures and values, promote dialogue, and build mutual trust.
Our process

Based on our experience operating in highly diverse markets, we have developed a comprehensive set of core processes that helps identify, assess, and manage potential impacts associated with our projects.

Our environmental, safety, and health processes serve as the nexus for our business units and relevant functions to determine potential environmental, safety, and community impacts material to our projects.
Other processes, such as security and procurement, help us manage additional potential risks to our communities related to the provision of security and engagement of subcontractors.

These core processes are governed by our management system. That system is grounded in personal accountability and continuous improvement, particularly in advancing awareness of potential project opportunities and risks, developing enterprise capabilities, and promoting greater consistency in how we manage sustainability.

Generating sustainable alternatives

We leverage our experience and expertise in engineering and design to generate sustainable alternatives in the construction of our projects—including reducing material requirements, waste to landfill, and water and energy use—and to help our customers achieve “green” building certifications, such as Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED). To help our customers and communities manage the effects of extreme weather and other atmospheric changes, we also improve the resilience of the physical structures we create for societies that will depend on them for years to come.

QUALITY

QUALITY IS DOING THE RIGHT WORK THE FIRST TIME

Quality work reduces cost, improves schedule, and, in doing so, satisfies our customers. We believe in achieving quality by making solid decisions based on facts, identifying issues before they occur, promptly fixing problems should they materialize, and inspiring every person on a project to "do it right the first time."

QUALITY AT EVERY STEP

At Kheberat, our philosophy on quality is simple — meets or exceeds our client’s expectations through continuous quality improvement and by building our work right the first time.

We do this by executing a formal quality program designed to ensure we:

Meet requirements. We create work plans that describe the means and methods of performing our work. Pre-activity meetings communicate how our work plans fulfill contract, design and client requirements.

Exceed clients’ expectations. We listen and act upon clients’ concerns. We treat clients with respect and are transparent in our dealings. Our goal is to build long-term trusting relationships with our clients at all levels.

Eliminate rework. We identify and immediately report quality issues whenever they occur. If there is an issue, root cause analysis is performed to eliminate the causes of quality issues and prevent future occurrence.

Demonstrate continuous quality improvement. By consistently focusing on quality, we commit to excellence in all that we do. We encourage new and innovative ideas to enhance our performance.

Build work right the first time. Our work is continually checked by the supervisors and craftsmen who build the work, ensuring it is built “right the first time.”

SAFETY FIRST

WE BELIEVE THAT EVERY INCIDENT IS PREVENTABLE.

NOBODY GETS HURT

At Kheberat, Nobody Gets Hurt means just that — no incidents and no injuries, no matter how seemingly minor. We take seriously our responsibility to keep each other and the public safe on our jobs. Nothing is more important.

Our safety vision defines us and sets us apart. This responsibility rests on everyone’s shoulders — we all have to take accountability for ourselves, our co-workers, project partners and the public surrounding our jobsites. Each employee — regardless of job or location — has the responsibility to speak up when they see anything that causes a safety concern. That, combined with employee engagement, management commitment and embracing the tools we have readily available, sets the foundation for Nobody Gets Hurt.

ACTIVE COMMITMENT BY MANAGEMENT

Leaders have a special responsibility when it comes to safety. Every leader we have is intensely committed to safety — seen not only through words, but actions. Leaders create the proper environments where people can't help but do the right thing every time.

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT AT ALL LEVELS

At Kheberat, we’re passionate about safety. Every person every level is authorized — and expected — to speak up when they see someone or something that concerns them or if something isn't in line with our safety standards. When it comes to protecting our employees, collaboration between our craft and staff is expected and necessary to prevent safety incidents.

THE TOOLS WE USE

Our tools empower employees take an active role in creating a safe workplace. Safety training, observation programs and job hazard analysis are just some of the tools and procedures we use companywide to help employees prevent incidents from ever occurring.

ON THE JOB

Every one of our colleagues—as well as our partners and subcontractors—has stop-work authority. If it's not safe, we don't do it. We reinforce this philosophy through a combination of technical field procedures, ongoing training, and a Life Critical Requirements Program that highlights activities that could be life-threatening when not executed according to published procedures.

Public safety

Public safety is a critical part of our environmental, safety, and health programs, and we work with all appropriate stakeholders to improve industry and national standards. On many projects, we prepare and implement traffic safety management plans specific to the work site and to the local roads over which equipment and materials flow to support construction.

The result is exceptional safety performance, even in hazardous work environments, severe weather, and remote locations.

Embrace your safety mindset. Nobody Gets Hurt.
